5 Tips To Organize Your Home

We all have that one area of our homes that could always use a bit of a touch up. You know that space I’m talking about. That table you keep a pile of unsorted mail, the back corner of a closet with a bag of clothes to be donated, or that bin of old beauty products in the bathroom collecting dust.
We all have one.
It’s okay. Life can sometimes get in the way of us checking everything off our to-do lists. Sometimes things slip through the cracks. Sure, we would all love to have the picturesque home with nothing out of place but it can seem like a lot of work to get there.
Now, we can’t tell you exactly how to organize your home nor do we want to. Every person is unique and your home should reflect that uniqueness. What works to organize each room for someone might not work best for you. But that can be part of the fun- finding which organization techniques fit in your lifestyle and enjoying them from there on out.
However much cleaning, organizing, or decluttering you're aiming for, here’s a few tips. They'll help make the entire process seem a little less stressful and a little more exciting.
1. Start Small.
Don’t overwhelm yourself with the big projects right away. Breaking big projects down into smaller ones gives you more of a sense of accomplishment. For example, the project ‘clean bedroom’ seems like a lot. So, make it ‘vacuum rugs’, ‘dust nightstands and dresser’, ‘put a load of laundry into the wash’. That way, it feels like you’ve accomplished more and make the bigger project more manageable.
2. Make It Fun!
Put on your favorite playlist so you can sign along while cleaning. It’s no secret that music can change your mood. It’s why you want to put fun and upbeat music on while exercising. It keeps you going and gives you a positive association with the exercise. Putting on your happy music will not only keep you going while cleaning up, but it keeps your mood up.
3. Invite Your Kids Or Friends To Help.
The more hands the better. If you have kids, this gives you an amazing opportunity to educate them on the importance of keeping their things clean and organized. These are values that they’ll take with them for the rest of their lives. If you invite your friends to help, it’ll give you a chance to hang out and have fun while still getting your space in order. Be sure to lend a hand back to them when it’s their turn to organize their own space.
4. Get Inspired!
Browse around the internet for pictures of organized spaces you love and print them out. Create a vision board with these pictures and start organizing your space to look like it. Pinterest is full of inspiration. Type in the room you want to organize and see what pops up. A word to the wise though, don’t get sucked into the never-ending world of Pinterest. Set a time limit and then get to organizing!
5. Use Organization Accessories.
Bins, shelves, and drawer organizers are all fantastic items you can use to make organizing easier. They make everything more aesthetically beautiful too. Do you have a ton of books stacked on the floor somewhere? Put up a few little shelves and display those books. Are your clothes shoved into a drawer? A drawer organizer can help keep everything folded and easy to see so you never question where that one blouse is again.
Organizing your space doesn’t have to be a huge daunting task. In fact, it shouldn’t be. Getting your home organized should be fun and exciting for you. It’s a chance for you to transform your living space into the space you feel the best about and are proud of. Of course, at times any space will get messy.
A stain on your new rug will happen, a corner of your new couch will get chewed on by a pet, and your kid will absolutely draw on your new coffee table with a sharpie at one point in their lives. That’s the living part of the term living space. But that’s okay! That’s where those moments you want to remember happen and all of them are worth it.
So, if you are looking for a way to level up your organization game, follow these tips, have some fun, and remember that you don’t have to get it all done today.
